External Projects

- Social Media Team (MOVE Collective)
In charge of Twitter.
Run the Instagram Takeovers.
Advertising the GoFundMe.
Often running Instagram.
Creating Events and posting on Facebook page.

One of my biggest contributions outside of my own filmmaking has definitely been with MOVE Film Collective. I have been part of the Social Media team, which was mainly run by just myself and Victoria Dahl. Though we dabbled in most fields, the parts I took charge in was the Twitter Page, and the Instagram Takeovers. As well as this, I did post to our Instagram feed, and also posted on our Facebook page and created event pages.

One of the other parts I engaged heavily in was the GoFundMe pages. I regularly used the social media pages to post about our GoFundMe - often bringing in good donations from people we weren't in direct contact with, like family.

Working on the Social Media team has been great. It's something I'd really like to work on more in the future. Social Media is a realm to which I feel very comfortable, and the idea fo thinking of carefully worded posts, editing pictures appropriate for the different sites, and just having an overall presence online is something I truly enjoy and would like to continue working in for the future.

My email to an industry professional.

On top of the social media contributions, I've also been in contact with members of the industry in order to gain traction and advice for our upcoming festival.

I have since received a few replies. We haven't been given any sponsorships, however the replies I have received have been offers of support through posters and word of mouth, which is also very valuable.

- Business Photography (The Secret Granary)
In charge of most creative aspects of The Secret Granary.
Doing the photography for the official menu, to be printed and advertised in house.
Drawing and writing the promotional pieces, such as boards.
Doing the photography that will be uploaded onto social medias - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Website.

A fully external project I've been, and still am involved with, is the Business Photography, Promotional Boards and Menu Creations for The Secret Granary.

The Secret Granary is pretty much a start-up business, run by Veronika, the Owner. As this is a fairly new business, Veronika was in need of promotional materials in many different shapes and forms. Though I haven't created a menu before, I do have prior experience with Adobe Photoshop, and so was able to make a first draft for her, including the photography I did myself.

Doing this has been amazing. I've really enjoyed doing something creative as part of my employment. It's definitely inspired me to find ways to delve into creativity for a career for my future. It's been enjoyable, and I've learned how to cater to what a client wants, all the while keep a little element of your creativity in there at the same time.

- Feedback to the First Years (MONTAGE Brief)
Sat in on a feedback session with the first year Filmmaker's.
Gave feedback on the positives in their films.

During the third year, I sat in on the First Year Montage film critique, and offered my opinions. I hadn't done something like this before, so it was really interesting for me to see this process from the other side. Watching the films and not being too caught up thinking about your own project made the experience so much more exciting - it was great to see what these students could come up within such a short space of time.

If any critiques were given, they were gently disguised with compliments to encourage them to continue their creations, but with the constructive critiques in mind. For example - if the critique was maybe the narrative wasn't so clear, however the shots were beautiful; start with the compliment, then gently encourage them to continue to work on their narratives, but still encouraging them at the same time.

Though I don't have any photos of this experience - it was very enlightening, and honestly quite warming. It was inspiring to see younger people, excited to show their work in a field that excites me too. The students I was giving opinions to are the people who will be in my shoes in just a couple of years - it was great to see their creativity and just how advanced they were at an early stage.
Doing this opened my eyes to potentially tutoring in the future, however this is something I'd definitely need to look into much more.
