Paid Design Work

Hello! I was going to add this to my "Paid Photography Work" post - however, this post will be added to progressively as this external project continues, so I thought it would be more appropriate to give it a new post.

As mentioned previously on the Blog, I am currently working for The Secret Granary, an artisanal bread and Italian ice cream business. Part of my job has become very creative heavy - mainly through photography for both social media and the menus. Some photos were attached to my previous blog post, however today I have been constructing the menu.

The location where the menu will be placed.
As you can see from the above photo - the only current menu is the hand written coloured pieces of paper on the horse box. Veronika would like a more professional, sophisticated approach to the menu - one that will be easy to read, and have visuals to help the customer know exactly what they are ordering.

The first draft of the first page of the menu.
I have been following Veronika's (the Owner) requests for the menu. This has been a very interesting stance to work from - I haven't been paid to do this sort of creative work before, and have never had to work to somebody's guidelines. Veronika requested a landscape, white background, black writing, with plenty of photographs. In Europe, specifically Italy and Germany (where Veronika was raised), photographs on the menu is common - Veronika has previously highlighted the importance of staying connected to her roots. I wanted to give Veronika exactly what she had in mind, even if she didn't yet have a clear idea herself. I'm going for something slightly different in my second draft - I am now going to spread the menu over several pages or boards, to allow for a more organised, tidy atmosphere. I will be updating this post with updates as I progress with the menu.

The next update to this post should be perhaps more photographs, or the next few drafts of the menu. See you then!
